I’m sure I aren’t the only one who builds imaginary “if I were rich and had all the money in the world, this is what I would buy” shopping baskets on various clothing websites.
My shopping baskets are usually made up 3 types of clothes: 1. basics that I absolutely need in order to pull together everyday outfits (jeggings, vest tops in a variety of colours, jeans, you get the drill) 2. clothes that are fun and pretty and need fun social dates to wear them to and 3. ridiculously over the top clothes that I would never have the balls to wear yet would love to wear them (think Carrie Bradshaw style tutu dresses and outfits circa “An American Girl in Paris Part Deux“).
I’ve had some gift vouchers for New Look burning a bit of a hole in my purse recently and so instead of purchasing those much needed (boring) basics I decided to inject some artificial summer into my wardrobe with summer prints and colour as it seems the British weather missed the “its now June” memo.
Daisy Embroidered Tassel Hem Kimono| Shell Pink Tile Print V Neck Cami | Blue Tile Print V Neck Cami | Black Floral Print Midi Skirt | Blue Stripe Crochet Hem Tshirt | Red Floral Print Button Front Belted Skater Skirt
Kimonos are big news this summer meaning I’ve been able to dig out my “few years old” kimono which I’ve previously worn in the house. From plain to floral, fringed to waterfall, floor sweeping to cropped there’s a kimono to suit all shapes and sizes.
Skater and midi skirts never going out of summery style so these two floral skirts were bargain buys from the sale. I think I own a floral skirt from 3 years ago which I pull out every summer because it’s so easy to wear. “Florals for spring? Groundbreaking” – I know. I’m hoping to be able to dig these babies out come 2017 because the style and prints are just so easy to wear with a pair of gladiators and some bright nail polish.
I seem to own skirts, shorts and jeans a plenty but always fall down when it comes to pretty tops to pair them with. I picked up the two printed cami’s primarily to wear under the kimono and the striped tshirt I saw Kate from gh0stparties wearing the coral version (it also comes in white and mint). All three tops are really lightweight so when that sun has got his hat on (*hint*) they’ll help to keep my overheating ginger skin nice and cool – they’re also the perfect colours to pair with denim.
I’ll be featuring a few of these items in some OOTD posts I have up and coming over the next couple of weeks where I’ll be showing you want I style them with.
I can see myself living in that kimono though, floaty boho goodness.
