Imagine you’re wanted by the police and on the run circa Thelma and Louise or Beyonce and Gaga in their telephone video, but while you’re doing it you want to achieve a flawless smokey eye, flushed cheeks and neutral lips look so you’ll out face LiLo and co in your mugshot. You’re going to want a makeup palette that embodies all of the above and won’t slow you down in your getaway, right? Ok, ok, being wanted by the police is a little bit far, but sometimes there are those times when you want a one palette does it all that you can pack up in your travel baggage to save you packing individual products – Naked On the Run from makeup powerhouses Urban Decay may be exactly what you’re after. This hotly anticipated release from the Naked range of the palette masters was released just before Christmas time and I managed to get my hands on it despite it selling out in store and online – it seems everybody is On the Run and if Beyonce and Jay Z can be, then why can’t I?

Lets start with the beautiful packaging – a rose gold and tortoiseshell effect palette is certainly going to sell the palette to the magpies amongst us and look super impressive on a dressing table. “On the Run” practicality the palette may be a little bit on the clunky side for what it actually holds but it’s well made, is super sturdy and houses a super huge mirror in the lid which is perfect for those travel touch ups.

As for products, the palette includes 5 brand new shadows from Urban Decay in a mix of shimmer and matte shades – Dive, Fix, Resist, Dare, Stun and 5050 which doubles up as a highlight or  a shimmery neutral shade for the all over the lid or the inner corner to inject a bit of brightness into the eye area. I even managed to make the shade “Dare” work for me as an eyebrow powder – practical indeed.

There’s the Naked on the Run bronzer and blush duo which are very similiar in texture and pigmentation to the Naked Flushed palettes – I find these are best used with a very light hand as they’re highly pigmented and the bronzer can come up a tad orange on my pale skin if I go in all guns blazing. There’s a travel sized version of the highly appraised 24/7 Glide-On Liner in Stag which is a deep brown shade and perfect to create a smudged eyeline on the upper lash and water line as well as a travel sized Perversion Mascara for ultra black lashes. For the lips you have a neutral gloss in the Naked Gloss, Sesso which is quite sheer that adds a nice sheen to the lips as well as having a hint of mint to the formula.

Would this palette suffice for a travel palette? Most definitely. Aside from packing some kind of foundation or whichever base you prefer, perhaps another lip colour (I’d go for a something a little brighter for night time) and those all important brushes (perhaps this Nanshy kit?) this palette offers a sold base for an array of make up looks. I’ll definitely be packing it for my future trip to Venice in March to save some precious luggage allowance.

At £37 it weighs in at the same price of one of the Naked palettes, but considering you get a face full of makeup including 5 eye shadows in the much loved Urban Decay formula you’re most certainly getting more bang for your buck considering what you would pay separately for the same products.
