Blush & Blooms

by Charl Pearce

I often find I’m the person that’s over dressed for everything.  Casual drinks with the girls, hump day at work, popping to the shop to buy the morning supply of bacon… you’ll usually find me in full make up and rocking the kind of lipstick most people would wear for a wild Saturday.  However, in the same way that I don’t really go “out out”, I don’t really get dressed “up up”.  A formal occasion is the kind of daunting word that leaves me blowing my rent money ordering 10+ dresses that I’ll most certainly return and sat on my bed the morning of the event swearing blind that I’m not going.

I’m one of those girls who the word “occasion wear” strikes fear into.  Honestly, you should see me trying to find an outfit to go to a wedding or horse racing.  Give me an occasion wear item and I’ll more than likely pair it with a piece that gives it an edge and makes it feel a little more “me”.

Wrap Dress* – Yours Clothing Limited Collection | Blush Biker Jacket – New Look Curves | Initial Necklace – Etsy

Yours Clothing are getting it SO right with their Limited Collection at the moment.  Their casual pieces are what I’m living in at the minute (all.the.slogan.tshirts) but when it comes to getting dressed up, they’re releasing some serious must haves and trend led pieces.  Wrap dresses are a classic shape and are perfect for tailoring the shape to your body as you can wrap and tie at the waist to define as much or a little as you like to create your ideal fit which is why this number caught my eye when it was released.  This contrasting tiger and floral print is beautiful and certainly makes this a statement dress.  Dressed up on its own with a choker and heels it would look really chic and is the perfect just-above-the-knee length if you want to go bare legged.

I’ve been lusting after a biker in a blush pink colour after developing serious style envy of Fleur and how easily and none harsh a pastel coloured jacket looks in comparison to your standard black.  Don’t get me wrong, I love my black biker but sometimes I want something a little more neutral and to feel a little less Shirley from Eastenders.   Pastel jackets work perfectly with floaty fabrics, floral prints and stonewashed denim and luckily are everywhere at the minute.  Whether you want to invest in a real leather number, faux leather it up like this pink pleather jacket from the New Look Curves range or shake up your fabrics with a suede biker, now is the time to go shopping.
