Winter Glow | I Am Me Dry Body Polish

by Charl Pearce

Joan Collins is a bonafide glamour puss and is often celebrated as one of the iconic beauties of our time. After launching her Timeless Beauty makeup line, a collection of products with the aim to make women feel beautiful at any age. From the Timeless Beauty collection the stand out products for me were the Divine lipsticks, Contour Velvet Blusher and a lipstick and powder compact perfect for topping up your lipstick and rouge on the go. True to the Hollywood glamour feel of the Collins empire, the packaging of Timeless Beauty is sleek with gold art deco detailing and classic colours for the Hollywood starlet such as a true red lip or the shade Marilyn.

With the Timeless Beauty launch came the I Am Woman signature fragrance which has since seen the launch of a number of body and skincare products in the same range including Skin Silk Body Oil, Night Cream & Body Cream each fragranced with the brands timeless scent. It’s certainly a scent that would be reminiscent of “old Hollywood”, embracing citrus top notes, a sensual musk and woody base with romantic floral scents and may not be to everyone’s tastes, but it’s reflective of the brand.

I’ve had the I Am Woman Dry Oil Body Polish on the side of my bath which is a blend of exfoliating Himalayan Salts and moisturising Olive, Avocado & Golden Jojoba Oils and Kiwi Seeds in the I Am Woman scent on the side of my bath for the last couple of weeks as part of an indulgent night time pamper routine. Designed to buff away dead skin and provide nourishment for a healthy winter glow, it’s the perfect product to prep the skin in order for it to soak up all of those deliciously hydrating body creams that come out of hibernation in the winter months.

Olive Oil: Not just for cooking, olive oil is superb for skin and hair care due to being full of hydrating squalene and anti aging oxidants.

Kiwi Seeds: Kiwi is renowned for having so many great skincare benefits including anti-ageing and softening skin, its packed full of vitamin C which helps to firm skin. It also has UV protection from the levels of Vitamin E but don’t rely solely on this for your UV protection EVEN in the winter months.

Avocado: Packed to its bumpy skin with vitamin E, Avocado is a key anti ageing ingredient, prevents inflammation and itchiness, is anti ageing and soothes skin.

Jojoba Oil: is an wonder oil, not only does it significantly increase hydration and leaves skin feeling smooth it also has proven results for treating acne prone skin. Contrary to popular belief, acne breakouts on the face and body can be commonplace occurrences during the the winter months due to our bodies over producing oil to try and nourish our dry skin.

The I Am Woman Dry Oil Body Polish is a different formulation from my usual body polish of choice, the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush, the Dry Oil Body Polish is completely dry in texture and can be a little difficult to apply without the “scrub” being suspend in some kind of liquid. It’s a little bit messy but I tend to add a couple of drops of water to a fifty pence sized “scoop” of product to create a paste like consistency and then buff over the skin. The plus side is that you use significantly less product per inch of skin because it’s pure polish. I also really love the art deco detailed glass jar in black and gold accents which looks sleek on the side of my bath.
