If you’re familiar with fabulous plus size fashion, it’s more than likely that you’ll have heard the name Anna Scholz one, twice or three times (a lady). Famed for her bright bold prints, striking silhouettes and luxurious fabrics Anna has already styled the likes of Adele (hello!), and Melissa McCarthy. After releasing a diffusion line with Simply Be, designed “with the aim of giving curvy women an enjoyable shopping experience“, Anna has released a new collection with German plus size fashion brand Sheego which is available via Curvissa.
I love Anna Scholz designs and even more so the mantra behind the designs.
Anna says that “women should dress up in something luxurious whatever their shape – clothes should never be worn just to hide in” and its definitely the message I get from her collections.
Many of the pieces in this latest collection are staple pieces but they’re far from your everyday “basics”. Basics tend to imply that they’re just that, “basic bitch” pieces which are ideal for layering or leggings that are worn until the knees go baggy and you can see your underwear through them. What these pieces are are wardrobe staples.
When I was asked by Curvissa to pick a piece from the latest collection, this asymmetric cut leather suede jacket* was an item which practically jumped off the screen to me and was begging to be worn. Incorporating elements from your usual biker-esque jacket and a waterfall front, the feel of this jacket is like butter, relatively lightweight and lends itself to be worn with a variety of outfits. Afterall, what doesn’t tan go with?
Good question. With this in mind, the lovely folk at Curvissa set me the challenge to style this jacket in three different ways. Easy peasy I said!
With these high neck vertical stripe tops being everywhere on the high street at the moment, I was desperate to get my hands on one. No simple feat. I wanted one which was long enough to be worn over jeans as well as tucked in, with sleeves which reached my elbows and that weren’t straining across my torso. I found this one with gold button detailing to the shoulder in the Dorothy Perkins sale for £8. These jeans are the Molly high waisted super stretchy jeans from RI Plus. I love the bright blue shade, they’re a beautiful fit and as promised… they’re ACTUALLY high waisted which means no thong flashing or muffin tops. To finish the look I teamed them with these suede lace up sandals from Primarkin the same tan shade as the jacket and a plain chunky gold chain necklace.
For the second look I paired the jacket with the same ribbed & striped tshirt top and this denim form fitting pinafore dress from Dorothy Perkins Tall range. I LOVE the button up detailing and dark indigo colour of this dress as an alternative to the more relaxed denim shades kicking about the high street. Unfortunately, as it’s not part of the Curve range, this dress only goes up to a size 22 and is available online and in store.
There’s something about these striped shirts which scream grandad smoking a pipe in his PJ’s yet I still can’t help but love them. This brown and black aniseed looking number is from the New Look Curves range and is worn dressed down with black skinny Wonderfit jeans from George at Asda and tan loafers.
