If like me you spend a lot of time in the hair and makeup aisle at your latest Tesco, you will have seen the latest offerings from hair tool newbies THX. THX are offering salon quality styling products at accessible high street prices. I think the first I heard about THX was when they were offering up a cut price alternative to the cult Babyliss Big Hair. Their version “Make It Big” works along the same concept, but is a snip at almost half the price and its currently on offer for £16.50 – thats a bargain at home blow dry if ever I saw one.
I ‘ve been trying out the THX Mix It Up Styler for the last couple of weeks in place of my usual array of styling tools. I have at my disposal straighteners, hair dryer, waving wand, curling iron, beach waver, heated rollers, you name I got it… I’m like a page from the Argos catalogue over here.
I’m notorious for not packing light, I’m not going to lie, I usually pack the kitchen sink and fridge and dishwasher. Styling tools wise this usually means straightener, curling iron and a waving wand all make it into my case just so I have all bases covered. This is overkill, I know.
When I was asked to pick a product from the THX range to review, this Mix It Up styler jumped out at me. Anything that claims to give me 3 of my favoured hair looks from 1 tool, it seemed perfect (it also means I have more space in my suitcase for shoes/makeup/a 5th version of an outfit.)
With a maximum temperature of 220 degrees, nano ceramic “floating” plates and curved housing this styler can be used to create a multitude of styles (including waves to make even a Victoria’s Secret Angel jealous).
What I loved about the styler was the thin plates. My old straighteners had quite big plates and this could make it difficult when trying to get right in at the root. The thin plates mean I can start my curls right from the root for some extra lift or smooth out those irritating kinks.
Like some shiny new Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story the THX Mix It Up styler has well and truly kicked my Argos catalogue of wavers/crimpers/curlers butts into the back of a drawer somewhere gathering dust.
The Mix It Up Styler is available for £45.00 in store at Tesco or you can purchase online from the Tesco Direct website.
