The Geeks Get The Girls

Black rimmed glasses, check. Nervous smile, check. Side parting hair, check.

I’m not sure if I’m alone in this, but when it comes to men – I love me a bit of male geek. You can keep your roughly shaven bad boys with tattoos, tank tops and a penchant for fast cars and fast women, what I really want is one of these famous celeb geeks who read comic books/play computer games/wear glasses.

My top 5.

Seth Cohen – to me, the ultimate in male geekery. Comic books/video games and a toy horse called Captain Oates? With his cork screw curly hair and his penchant for the not so cool side the track clothes, Seth Cohen should technically speaking repel women but he ends up with the hottest girl in Orange County, Summer Roberts while breaking the heart of fellow geek girl Anna. Yes yes, I know this is a TV show people but try and watch an episode of The OC without falling in love with his dorky pop culture references and then come back to me.

Dawson Leary – THE KING of drawn out, heart melting monologues. Dawson, the TV and film buff who spends most of his spare time making films, writing scripts, falling in and out of love with a very young ex Mrs Cruise is in my eyes the epitome of loveable geek. There wasn’t a line that came out of his mouth that didn’t turn my knees to jelly and I was one of these people screaming “OH COME ON!” at the TV when Joey picked Pacey over Dawson. (sorry, little spoiler there) If you don’t believe me…

Dawson: It’s uh… Well, it’s like a best friend, but more. It’s the one person in the world that knows you better than anyone else. It’s someone who makes you a better person. Actually, they don’t make you a better person, you do that yourself because they inspire you. A soul mate is someone who you carry with you forever. It’s the one person who knew you and accepted you and believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would. And no matter what happens, you’ll always love her. Nothing can ever change that. Make sense?

SEE…. SEE? *collapses*

Joseph Gordon Levitt – Mr Levitt has played a couple of my favourite geeky roles. Remember Cameron in 10 Things I Hate About You? He notably stepped it up a notch recently from geek to hero in the latest Batman film where he got to handle a gun (major hot points) but for me, JGL as Tom in 500 Days of Summer is where he really shines. Who doesn’t love a Greeting Card Writing Architect who listens to The Smiths, sings karaoke (badly), rocks out a dance routine by a fountain and kisses you by the photocopier? COR.

Andrew Garfield – my list wouldn’t be complete without at least one Superhero would it? Andrew Garfield is probably best known for being the new AMAZING Spiderman, and although I haven’t actually seen the film, I’ve seen the promos, and the press shots, and that. suit. uhm. You may remember AG from The Social Network where he played Eduardo, co founder of a little know social media site called Facebook.  (Granted he never actually “coded” the site – that would have been so much hotter, but he dealt with the money and such forth.  And who can forget the scene when he storms into the Facebook offices and smashes up Zuck’s laptop.  MEAN GEEK HOTNESS.

Clark Kent – I’m not going to lie, Clark Kent makes my HOT GEEKS list purely for those glasses. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man look as good as Mr C in those thick rimmed glasses.

Anybody I missed out?

Seth Cohen was my first true geek love – always wanted to be Summer in that Wonder Woman outfit!
