If like me you’ve spent the whole of the autumn and winter months, layering up textures and knits and spending most days in a billion denier tights and boots in array of heels heights and colours, then the last couple of days of sun will have had you slinging your stinking and battered boots out of the window and unleashing your poor neglected feet on the world. After a quick trip to a salon for some feet TLC (or an at home pedicure works just as well – this also means you don’t have to inflict said feet on another human) – you’re going to need some summer friendly footwear to adorn your tootsies, because walking around barefoot is frowned upon – unless you’re Joss Stone.
Flat, high, laced, buckled, strappy, plimsoll, wedge – with summer shoes from Barratts, you’re practically spoiled for choice. Whether you’re after flip flops for day time round the pool, gladiator sandals for some serious power shopping, wedges for beer garden Sundays or some strappy sandals for dancing away those hot summer nights, Barratts has something for whatever eventuality – including pretty wellies for fun festival times or when the weather turns all British on us and starts chucking it down.
Already this year, there’s one type of shoes that seems to have made a come back from my primary school days. Plimsolls. Pumps. Canvas shoes. So not me. If you’d have told me a few months ago that I’d be pairing a pretty summer dress with a pair of plimsolls, I’d have slapped you round the face with a pair of gladiator sandals, but *whispers* I really like them. They’re comfortable, they’re practical and thanks to the fact that they’ve had a summertime makeover, they now come in a variety of floral patterns, pastel and neon shades – they’re (dare I say) pretty. There are some days when an open sandal or flip flops just aren’t appropriate, sometimes you need to give your feet a little rest from the dreaded toe post chafing and crave a bit of comfort over style.
These are my picks of the pumps from the Barratts website – I’m particularly in love with the Rocket Dog Lace Up Pumps in white and pastel shades. I like the idea of these with a colourful skirt a neutral vest top and my trusty denim shirt shirt – pass me some shades and a neon lippy and I’m good to go road tripping.
