Soft & Vintage with Elomi Lingerie

by Charl Pearce

Once viewed as being quite frumpy, Elomi, a fuller figure lingerie brand, have truly evolved in the last few years, saying goodbye to bland and perhaps seemingly boring lingerie, they’re now consistently releasing exciting collections and have become a force to be reckoned with in the plus size underwear stakes along side sister company, Freya. Their recent press Spring/Summer 2017 event showcased beautiful feminine designs with lace, embroidered detailing and longline bras as well as dependable lingerie staples for everyday wear, all designed with the fuller figure in mind.

I was gifted the Elomi Raquel full cup wired set taken from the Elomi lace range. Available in classic Black, Sapphire, Taupe and Sunrise featuring a soft full cup, this design features lace and sheer panels with a nude background and is trimmed with narrow elastic to give a pretty, demure and vintage feel to the overall set. I have the set in the shade Sunrise, a soft coral/raspberry shade which I love because it’s so different to the other (read: sensible looking) sets that I own.

The bra itself is made up of a three piece cup and side support for a forward shape, uplift and separation. Full cup bras cover all (if not most of) the breast and offer both more coverage and support which can give shallow and deflated upper breasts a fuller breast silhouette and do not leave a visible line or indentation so are a great style when worn under silhouette hugging clothing.  I wear a 38DD and this is the first full cup bra that I’ve worn.  Although I felt a little over covered in the breast department material wise than usual, I’ve been really impressed with the overall comfort and silhouette it gives, helped by the wide bra straps and comfortable band.  Anything to help give the illusion of a fuller bust, huh?

One thing I love about Elomi’s lingerie is that the briefs are ideal for those with a plentysome derriere like myself. The Raquel briefs in the same soft Raspberry shade as the bra feature matching lace and sheer panel detail and with a centre panel to the brief for modesty.

Over all, the Raquel is the seemingly more sensible of offerings from Elomi, the full cup and high briefs could understandably look quite old fashioned but I think that the combination of the beautiful lace detailing and colour bring this vintage style up to date.
