Playsuits and Prints

by Charl Pearce

Hey plus size and tall ladies, I’m sure you all feel my pain when I say the word “playsuit” to you. That free feeling and comfortable piece of clothing akin to a baby bodysuit which manages to look so effortless on some girls is a massive battle for me. When I say battle, I’m talking camel toes and hoofs galore, not to mention constantly pulling the damn thing down and out of fabric eating crevices for fear of making a fashion faux pas (not cute). Fortunately for me, after proclaiming that I cannot wear a playsuit I found solace in this stretchy black number from Pink Clove. The half length sleeves are flared slightly and are a rare find in a playsuit. I usually look for cardigans, wraps, kimonos or denim shirts to cover up my bingo wings as they make me feel self concious (god how I wish I could embrace my arms!) so to find arms in a playsuit is akin to finding pockets in a dress – aka a majestical amazingness of universal synchronisation. I love Pink Clove for their staple wardrobe basics, especially when they’re such affordable prices – this playsuit is currently in their sale for a steal at only £9. I recently acquired a Christina Hendricks-esque plunge neck black dress in the same jersey material and it’s so easy to wear and gets compliments whenever I wear it. I paired the playsuit with the much sought after fur gilet from Primark, because despite the sunshine, it’s still a little nippy and what goes with those leopard print boots better than fur?

This Carvela Dana Winged Tote from the Kurt Geiger Sale at Love The Sales is quickly becoming my most used handbag and is a refreshing colour change from my tan, black and grey bags which have frequented my winter wardrobe. A blue colour injection paves the way for spring shades (HURRAH!) and is the perfect size to fit in everything in you need for the day… Purse, phone, charger, 325 lipsticks in every single shade available to (wo)man.

Hands up if you love leopard print! I have to admit that I don’t have too much leopard print in my wardrobe – something I made up for with the purchase of a print blouse at the weekend, but these Jolita  Winter Cat print boots* from the brand Rocket Dog are the purrrrfect accessory to add a bit of a bite to a plain outfit.  They boast a higher heel than I’d usually wear (tall girl + high heel = drag queen feels) but I can see these working amazingly well for a night out with tights and a tube skirt or the black Wonderfit skinny jeans, a crisp white blouse and long line blazer.
