Do you remember last year when Clarisonics were EVERYWHERE? Any Blogger or YouTuber worth their weight in lipsticks was declaring their love for this super sonic cleansing brush which was praised as a holy grail skincare must have product. We all watched the tutorials, read up on which cleanser would deliver the best results, which brush head should be used and we all dreaded that awful “purge” period.
There have been a couple of Clarisonic “dupes” on the market, but I actually dislike this word “dupe”. Alot of products are a long time in production and manufacturing, so by the time one item has been released and received rave reviews, this “dupe” may have been months in development but is met with “oh its just a dupe of the XYZ”.
Sometimes there ARE products that are released to blatantly rival their more expensive counterparts – MUA “Undressed” and “Undressed 2” for example – but for a lot of products this is not always true. Which is why I think its important that some products are judged and reviewed for what they are as a product, without being the blogger who cried dupe.
The Philips Visapure Facial Cleansing Brush
The Philips VisaPure claims to take your daily cleansing routine to the next level with no extra effort.
Firstly, the unit is completely waterproof and can be used in the shower – as I don’t have a shower I tend to keep mine by the side of the bath where I know I’ll have time to indulge in a more deep cleansing routine than at the sink.
I have quite sensitive skin so I use the sensitive brush head (theres a sensitive and a normal brush head) and I use it every other day in conjunction with my much loved Superdrug Vitamin E cleanser. On the in between days I use the same cleanser with a muslin cloth so as not to over cleanse my skin. I find when I over cleanse my skin it can become dry or breaks out as it strips the skins natural oils which keeps skin healthy and balanced.
As with other cleansing brushes I did experience a purge week – this is normal! Your face isn’t going to be dramatically awful or fall off, don’t panic! My skin simply broke out like it would during a usual “PMS breakout” week but after a few days it cleared up. Its worth waiting it out – Rome wasn’t built in a day after all.
What I have noticed since using is that my skin is noticeably softer aswell as smoother and significantally less zits that I still get despite being well over teenage age. As the brush not only cleanses the skin it also polishes/exfoliates it thus ridding the surface of any dead skin cells which make skin look dull.
I will most definitely be using this brush as part of my cleansing routine in future, especially since this cold weather is making my skin much more dull and in need of TLC.
The Philips VisaPure is available online for £99.00. Yes, it’s pricey for a skincare item, but its certainly worth the investment.
