Patterns & Prints

by Charl Pearce

When the clock strikes summer, patterns a plenty fill the catwalks.

Ditzy, floral, tribal, boho, neon, colour blocking, tiedye they all lead the pack in a rainbow of colours, textures and fabrics.  Whether its maxi dresses, kimonos, swing dresses or crop tops an injection of colour into your wardrobe gives you that summer feeling in the same sort of way that an ice cold mojito can.

Autumn comes around and we often tend to trade in pattern and prints in favour of cable knit, denim and the autumnal colour palette is one that I love, brights become become muted to mustards and burgundy shades, your mojito is replaced with mulled wine and that bit of summer happiness is zapped away.

Taking inspiration from the  JW Anderson line at Avenue 32 where his range hosts classic autumnal fabrics and textures such a the courdroy spiral mini skirt, the ribbed wine jumper and the classic sweatshirt.  Mix those classic pieces with your summer throw back print pieces to create a new take on autumn fashion.

I love the look of this Multi Jaquard Sunray Skirt, Ribber Raglan Sleeve Jumper, patent loafers and deep red shoulder bag – paired with some black opaques if its extra cold out.  Throw on a fur stole or a fur hat (love some faux fur in the winter) a swipe of berry hued lipstick and you’re good to go.
