I came across this this dinky little palette when I was browing the stands in Superdrug. What I love about Superdrug is that instead of just stocking the main “drugstore” brands, they also have some smaller brands that are excellent value for money and offer products that the mainline “drugstore” brands just don’t. Sleek and MUA are two of my favourites and I’ve been known to peruse the NYC stand as well, mainly down to the selection of simple but good quality products with an amazing price point.
Now, I’m not really in the market for yet another neutral eye palette but anything compact like this I’m a sucker for, and at the bargain price of £2.50, I couldn’t turn this down.
This palette has a primer, 4 shadows to create a neutral/smokey eye and a brow highlight, with all the shadow colours specifically designed to compliment blue eyes.
Primer – for the price I love this primer. I usually use MAC paintpot in Barestudy as a base for my eyeshadow but I’ve been reaching for this palette recently purely because I’ve found that it does create the perfect base for my eyeshadow. I’ve used this with some of my high end shadows and it’s just as good with them. I’ve also used a bit of this as an under eye concealer because its quite peach and it does a brilliant job at offering a bit of coverage on those morning bags. Super impressed.
Shadows – these have pretty good pigmentation and the colour pay off for such a budget price is really good. They do drop a little upon application so its best to apply with a flat brush to press the colour onto the lids and then use a nice fluffy brush to blend and clean up a little with some concealer… I do find that even some of my more expensive eyeshadows do drop though, so for £2.50 I can’t really grumble.
Highlight – this is probably the only thing I haven’t really used in this palette except to give it a good old swatch. I’m not much of a cream highlight kinda gal, so I haven’t used this when I’ve used the rest of the palette..If you do like a cream highlight it’s quite a frosted highlight shade and again has great pigmentation and will more than do the job for the brow bone and in the corner of the eye to make you look a little more awake.
£2.50 bargain! I’ve used this in some form or another everyday since I picked it up last week and I’ve even thrown it in my “on the go” makeup bag when I’ve had to go somewhere after work and I’ve wanted to smoke up my eyes. Combining the 4 shadows, the primer and the highlighter means this is ideal for travelling when you don’t want to pack loads of products.
