Neutral Ambience with Tanya Burr

by Charl Pearce

I love seeing vloggers or bloggers turn a career that started off into their bedrooms with a webcam or little old camera into a brand that is stocked nation (or worldwide) in beauty stores they’ve championed for years on their channels.  The likes of Zoe Sugg, Sam and Nic Chapman, Ruth Crilly and of course, Tanya Burr have all released products, be it beauty, bath or body that are stocked in mainstream stores that rival household brands.

Tanya Burr released her cosmetics line in 2014 and has since released a number of collections and I have to admit, aside from picking up a couple of nail polishes and lip glosses from the initial line (that I actually really really liked) I’ve not really tried any of the palettes, illuminators or anything else from the range.  & I’m not sure why.

If anythings going to sway me to part with my money, it’s pretty packaging, sparkly colours and shallowly, cute product names which these new releases have in abundance.  The Tanya Burr Neutral Ambience collection launched in May consists of two quad palettes and two lipsticks in neutral, wearable shades for soft summer makeup looks.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate that Bear Hug has such a cosy sounding name and does this easy to wear shade justice.  It’s one of those perfect your lips but better nude shade that looks quite dark in the bullet but when applied is a really pigmented but subtle shade.  Wear it on its own for casual make up days or with a neutral lip liner if you want a bit more definition and shape to your lips.  I love the Essence £1 lip liners you can pick up at Wilkinsons!  Budget beauty buy alert right there. The formula itself is  enriched with magical Vitamin E which means it gives a silky soft and moisturise finish to keep your lips hydrated.

The My Escape quad palette is every rose gold and pineapple lovers paradise… just look at that branding.  I’m not sold on the cardboard packaging because I find they get really messy but for the price point  (£5.99) I can’t really grumble.  It also means the palette is super light if you wanna pop it in your makeup bag for travelling.

The colours in the palette Champagne Cocktail, Tranquility, Miami Sunrise, Hammock (3 shimmers and one matte) are all inspired by golden sunsets and are absolutely beautiful.  They’re not  super  pigmented but they do have good colour pay off and could be worn alone swept across the lid for one of those up and outta here mornings or combined for a bit of depth or even to create a smoky eye using the matte shade, Hammock.

The My Paradise palette and Bear Hug lipstick work really nicely together for a complete look and are the ideal shades for this time of the year when make up is glowier, base is a little less heavy and you want that radiant skin look.
