At the weekend I headed down to London to lose my virginity to an English institution! Nope, it’s not Prince Harry (unfortunately), it’s museum of wax extraordinaire, Madame Tussauds Fashion Week attraction! Famed for its collection of expertly created wax replicas of much loved musicians, film stars and world leaders, Madame Tussauds (which opened on Baker Street in 1835 by Marie Tussaud) has gone hurtling towards the 21st Century with the latest additions to the Hall of Fame (cos you’re nobody if you don’t have a figure of you made of wax!). After celeb powercouple Kanye and Kim were added to the collection in August 2015 and YouTube star Zoella and boyfriend Alfie were measured within an inch of their life and unleashed to the public in September 2015 for the YouTube viewing uber fans, it was only expected that the next generation of figures would follow in the same vein.
Today Madame Tussauds launches their Fashion Week attraction Wax #CaKe which sees fashion superstars Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne land a major modelling gig at MT. The duo (lovingly known as CaKe) have been immortalised in a behind-the-scenes look into what goes on off the runway at LFW. You can take a selfie with Kendall as she lounges backstage in her exclusive make up area or walk the run way with Cara as Vogue Editor and fashion high society Anna Wintour watches on the frow. Madame Tussauds have put a fashionable foot forward with the Fashion Week attraction and is one of the most immersive set ups in the collection.
I was invited down for an exclusive peek behind the scenes on Saturday joined by blogger friends Terri, Victoria and Lilly along with a whole host of actors and actresses and to be one of the first to strike a pose with Kendall in her selfie mirror and get runway ready with hair and make up by makeup artists from Maybelline and hairstylists from Toni & Guy (because you don’t want to be show up by #CaKe do you?) After enjoying a couple of glasses of prosecco dahling and a cupcake adorned with #CaKe, we took a look around at the rest of the exhibition and proceeded to selfie with the likes of Elvis, Beyonce and Zoella herself (after we fought with some 8 year old children who got teary at the sight of a waxy Zoe Sugg).
Fashion Week at Madame Tussauds opens today and is perfect if you’re eager to strut your stuff and become BFF’s with the model mates. You can buy tickets online here or via the box office on the day.
