LIFE || Ginger Girl Says on’t Radio

I decided that in 2014 I would begin to put myself out of my comfort zone in order to experience life differently and to build on my self confidence. This isn’t a New Years resolution, because I find resolutions are far too cliche, it’s just a change I want to make in life.

With this in mind I made the decision to figuratively pull my finger out of my backside and do something which I have been talking about and discussing with the powers that be for almost 6 months: having my own radio show.

ggs6townsradioLast week I ventured into “the studio” like some kind of less/more annoying version of Ferne Cotton to pop my cherry radio stylee. And it was awful. I can say hand on heart that spending 2 hours on the radio was the most daunting thing I have ever done in my life. I felt like I needed to ingest an entire packet of Imodium Max Strength to stop me from filling my underwear with terror but y’know what? As much as it was ‘poop in your pants scary’ it was also one of the biggest buzzes ever. I don’t know. As much as my palms were sweating and I felt like I had a mouth drier than Ghandis flipflop. Adrenaline rush maybe?

It turns out that the “powers that be” in the radio world didn’t hate my debut show quite as much as I did and they’re quite happy to let my loose on the airwaves again this week, and the week after that, and then the week after that. I’ve also received some feedback from my nearest and dearest who I value the opinions of and my massively terrified has turned a little into quietly confident (still with a massive side helping of OHMYGOD WHAT IF I PRESS THE WRONG BUTTON and WHAT THE HELL DO I TALK ABOUT) & I’m starting to prepare for week two.

schedule6towns

I’m going to be “ON AIR” on Wednesday nights, 9pm-11pm where I’ll be more or less taking Ginger Girl Says and turning it vocal. There’ll be relationship chatter, current affairs (by current affairs I mean “reading the headlines from the Daily Mail and giving my 2 pence worth), TV catch ups, Twitter talk, the sort of music you’d find playing on my iTunes and probably lots of “erm” “like” and “you know what I mean, duck” to go along with it – I’M SORRY I’M FROM STOKE I CAN’T HELP IT.

I’ll be taking to my Twitter page on the night to take your song requests and to ask for your opinions on whatever it may be I’ll be talking about (last week I was talking about Kim Kardashians ass) – I’d love it if you can join in there and I’d be even more grateful if you could “TUNE IN” at some point between 9pm-11pm and have a listen and get involved OR just to mock me, I don’t mind.

You can listen by logging on 6towns.co.uk and clicking “listen now” or you can download an app for your smart phone/tablet called “Tunein Radio” and search on there for 6 Towns.

Wish me luck.

That is so awesome! I would love a listen! :)

  • That is amazing! Massive well done to you and congrats for landing yourself a fantastic opportunity. It’s hard work to keep believing in yourself and pushing past your comfort zone, I am going through the same thing and set myself the challenge to change my life for the better as much as I can in 2014 and so far I have found myself bricking it and making excuses to back out on what I wanted to do because I’m too scared and feel so vulnerable. You just gave me a little ray of hope again to keep pushing through the fear. x
