FASHION || The Lady is a Vamp

When it comes to blogging its unexpected things which leave me a) bloody excited and b) grateful for the opportunities I get.  These little things leave me dancing around the room with excitement and I don’t think I’ll ever  tire of it (if I do, please slap me around the face and tell me to check myself). This happened on Saturday morning when I saw a post on Facebook about the lovely plus size clothing company Yours Clothing.

This graphic features some of my favourite bloggers such as Danie, Betty, Meg and Sian (all of whom I got to meet at Plus North!) and… ME!

I posted this picture on Twitter of this gorgeous Flock Print Skater Dress (£30.00) from the Limited Collection and it was picked up by Yours Clothing to use in this graphic, so I figured I’d fast forward my review while this little number is hot ON the racks.

You know its autumn when these berry shades come into play, berry lips, berry nails, mulled wine.. *ahem* and this dress is no exception.

The fabric of the dress is quite heavy so it, I think the technical term is “skims over any lumps or bumps” (super thin fabric is no good for me, I like a bit of padding) – and the jacquard detailing is embossed which is a nice little textured touch.

The skirt of the dress is quite full, the pleats sit flatteringly on my waist and then.. flare baby flare. I wore this to a birthday party and I very much made use of the skirt for spinning and twirling – I sound like a 5 year old I know, but theres something about a swooshy skirt that makes me feel super feminine and flirty.. oh and the 1/4 sleeves mean that I can brave not having to wear a jacket (I have bingo wing cover up need).

I paired this dress with some black opaque tights (100 denier from Primark – the best in my humble opinion) and black wedge boots from Asda that I don’t seem to have taken off my feet since I bought them.

I feel a little bit like I’ve stepped out of Twilight in this dress.. I love the gothic twist that seems to sneak into my wardrobe in the winterand it means I get to go a little vampy with my makeup… Lashings of mascara, Avon’s Supershock Gel Liner on my waterline AND tight line and Revlon’s “Plum” on my lips.

  • Ooh see the picture doesn’t do the dress justice and I wouldn’t give it a second glance, but now I’ve seen it on i’m really tempted as it looks lovely. I twirl about in dresses like that, it should be the law I think.
