FASHION || He Left Me Standing in my LBD

To me, when I think “little black dress” I think iconic moviestar Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffanys. She stands outside Tiffanys, those sunglasses, that tiara, those red lips and pearls and of course that shift LBD – I think that one scene just oozes class.

The Audrey Hepburn LBD has been recreated time and time again and I’m sure that most women have hanging in their wardrobe their very own take on a classic LBD.

Wearer dependent the hem may have gotten longer (or shorter) than Audrey’s, there may be sleeves, an A line skirt (or skater), a nipped in waist, a low cut “bring out the girls” neckline (or a collar) – either way an LBD gives you the perfect “black canvas” to base a whole host of outfits around.

Think of this as one of the foundations of your staple wardrobe.

I’ve a black dress which I bought when I was 16 and I’ve pulled it out time and time again (its fluctuated in its find somewhat dependent on if I’m having a good or bad year). No matter what, despite the latest trends all I need to do is change up the accessories to keep the dress current.

Do you have an LBD hanging in your closet?

  • 1) PLEASE SAY THE TITLE IS FROM THAT N DUBZ SONG. 2) My fave LBD was £2 in a charity shop. It’s v.v. short so much focus on the ‘little’. x
