Earning Your Stripes | Yours Clothing

by Charl Pearce

It seems as though lately maxi and midi are the big word in fashion. Midi skirts, maxi dresses, maxi shirts, maxi pads… okay maybe not that last one. The calf and ankle skimming pieces have swept into shops and I can’t seem to step into a shop without making a dent in my bank balance by purchasing a sheer floaty shirt, a maxi dress or pleated number all in the name of “holiday wear”, of course.

With the sun precariously peeping through the clouds, brighter colours and sheer layers are becoming preferable to cardigans and over coats, and over shirts like this lightweight chiffon maxi shirt from Yours Clothing are just the ticket. This sleeveless button down shirt with side splits is really adaptable, it features vertical stripes in royal blue and black and can be Worn as a shirt over jeans, open as a waistcoat or over a black slip dress and with heels for an evening look! I’m also eyeing it up to wear over swimwear with sandals and sunglasses for some time off the beach to partake in a greek salad and a couple of cocktails beside the sea.

See, I told you it was adaptable.

I styled it on this occasion buttoned over a jersey bardot top (also from Yours) and black Wonderfit jeans from Asda (I ripped the knees myself) knees and some peep toe black boots from Shuwish.

So I completely bypassed this on the website but really love how you’ve styled it – I think the bardot top is a little edgier than the simply black came seen on the model. I also love the idea of bright bikini popping out from beneath it (if it ever gets warm enough for one)!

When I read the line about the sun peeping through it suddenly started raining on the office windows. So much for summer,eh!? I definitely think this would work over swimwear too, would love to see how you style it once we actually get some sun!

This shirt isn’t something i’d normally go for but seeing the way you styled it has at least persuaded me to try it out!
