If there’s one item of clothing that was on every girls Autumn lust list of 2015, it was the A-line skirt. Denim, suedette, tan, zip, buttons – they were everywhere. Despite buying a number of these skirts of varying price ranges I never found one which was quite right – I was like the goldilocks of A-Line skirts. I came to the conclusion that my hip to waist ratio didn’t lend itself to the A line shape and gave up my search. No biggy. I then came across this tan suedette skater skirt from Inspire New Look in the sale for £6 (I can’t find it online – sorry!).  The material and colour were exactly what I was looking for and the shape of the skirt was much more suiting to my figure. This shape sits on my waist and flares out over my bum and hips unlike the A line skirts which tended to cling to my hips and then simply create a vaccuum of nothing on my waist.
Denim shirts are such a wardrobe staple. They lend themselves perfectly for layering with different fabrics during the colder months for warmth and come spring they’re the ideal thickness to use as an alternative to a jacket. I’ve a number of shirts in varying shades of denim which are so versatile and this distressed light denim number* from RI Plus is idea for everyday dressed down style. I’ve worn this shirt as its styled here, half fastened and tucked into a skirt, fully buttoned with a chunky necklace around the collar tucked into skirts or jeans and of course worn open over a comfy tee with jeans and converse for those casual days where you just don’t want to have to try (we all have them).

The bag is the Limited Collection mock croc boxy bag in brown from Marks & Spencer’s with gold hardware. I featured the black version a couple of posts back, but like every good fashion piece it’s usually a safe bet to get in all colours – especially when it’s in the sale. I love the size and shape of this bag and the style is so classic that it won’t ever go out of fashion – in fact, I think this brown version looks as though it could have been picked up straight out of a vintage shop and will only get better with age like a pair of new white pumps.Tan brogues are one of those items of footwear that for me I thought weren’t “me”.To me, tan brogues were for pixie sized girls with wispy fringes and doe eyes… That was until I bought my first pair from Primark for £8 and I wore them to death. I picked up these slightly more sturdy ones from Dolcis on eBay for just shy of £18 including delivery which have lasted me since last summer. They’re the perfect fallback shoe style for me now, they’re super comfortable and they go with practically everything.
