I love freckles – I think they’re absolutely beautiful, they’re so individual and they add so much character to the face that I don’t know why some people hate them so much. Take Jade, the winner of last years Britain & Ireland’s Next Top Model: a born and bread Stokie like myself a stunning face which was decorated with freckles a plenty. It gave her a really unique a look and set her aside from the other contestants.
When the sun comes out (which is rare) my face laps up the sun, and my freckles come to forefront. I once read that freckles are a sign that the sun has kissed you, and nothing says “sunkissed” like smatterings of honey toned dots across my forehead, nose and cheeks… and I think they look beautiful. In everyday circumstances when I wear make up, the coverage of foundation that I wear covers up these beautiful sun kisses, but because of this sunnier weather, I’ve been laying off “the heavy stuff” in favour of a more bare faced chic.
My go to over the last weekend was this new Powder Foundation from HD Brows. I chose the shade “1” (or the lightest shade, as usual). You can apply this powder foundation in a couple of ways – with the sponge provided to achieve a heavier coverage or use with a buffing brush like I do to achieve a lighter covering just to even out the skin tone and to not leave me feeling so naked. The coverage is light enough to let my freckles show through, and the foundation adds a real luminosity and healthy glow to my face (it reminds me a little of the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish but with more coverage). Another reason I love this? It works well with my combination/oily skin to ensure that my face doesn’t develop that overly shiny hue that it does when wearing liquid foundation when its hot and you’re likely to sweat.
I paired this with W7 Creme de la Creme blush in Divine, some mascara, a slick of Soap & Glory’s “A Great Kisser” lip balm, tied my hair off my face (check out my
45 head) and whacked on some super sunnies and voila… come freckle me baby.
