BEAUTY || Kelly & Sharon Osbourne for MAC

by Charl Pearce

As a beauty blogger I feel as though there’s some kind of inbuilt “I must love MAC” gene that comes as standard. Each time I’m in Selfridges I feel as though there’s a magnetic field that pulls me towards their sleek black stands of quirky named lipsticks and eyeshadows which leave a rainbow of swatches on the back of my hand. I’m powerless to resist a MAC lipstick due to the fact that

When it comes to MAC collaborations/collections gone by I’ve never really been blown away. The Rihanna collection left me completely underwhelmed (mainly because of my dislike of Rihanna, read about that here) and I greeted the “MAC RIHANNA COLLABORATION” flurry of excietment on Twitter with a face not too dissimailiar to this…sharonosbournequote3

Then earlier this year there were whispers of an “Osbourne” collaboration from the mother and daughter of darkness fame, Sharon and Kelly, and then these images were released…

I did.  Infact, after changing my over exciteable pants I think I needed a bit of a lie down.

Mrs O’s contouring, the smouldering smokey eye and signature nude lip.  Kelly’s Bardot esque eyes, a flush of peach blush and that god damn perfect lipstick.

It’s no secret that I have a style/girl crush on Kelly Osbourne.  Aside from the fact that she has cheek bones to die for and a quirky sense of style with a twist of classic Hollywood glamour a la Brigitte Bardot, she’s also one of those feisty females who is a prime example of “girl done good” and could quite easily have been the 6th Spice Girl when it comes to Girl Power (Lavendar Spice?).  She promotes self confidence and inner beauty and she has no time for haters.  So a quirky makeup collection based on her style along with momma bear Mrs O?

Earlier this week the fabulous mother and daughter duo took to Selfridges on London’s Oxford Street to give all of the movers and shakers in the cosmetics industry a sneak preview of the range and to talk about the collection, what it meant to them to make it, where they got their inspiration for the colours and the names – there’s a brilliant post over on Pixiwoo’s blog for some behind the velvet rope info.

So lets talk about the collections..

Sharon: The outspoken Sharon Osbourne brings her unmistakable warmth and wit to the mother of all colour collaborations, featuring feminine shades and tools for eyes, lips and face. Eye Shadow x 4 in golden nudes and fiery browns complement a soft palette of Lipglass and Patentpolish Lip Pencil in caramel and rose. Peachy cheeks with a hint of rose give skin a subtle satin finish. Limited-edition packaging in Sharon’s trademark red with lavender signature.

Kelly’s Collection: The inimitable Kelly Osbourne collaborates on a collection of fearlessly vibrant hues and tools for eyes, lips and face. Bloody Brilliant Quad Eye Shadow x 4 in pale lilac and blackened plum complement Lipstick in bright pink, orange and light lavender. Cool beige and soft pink Mineralize Skinfinish Duo highlights skin in a luxurious, mineral-rich formula for a polished perfect finish. Limited-edition packaging in Kelly’s iconic light violet with signature in red.

My picks?  I’m sold on the lipsticks in Kelly’s collection like I never thought possible.  Kelly Yum Yum has a twist on the original Candy Yum Yum which is my go to bright lip – what girl doesn’t need more bright pink lipstick?  Riot House is a matte vivid peach shade which I’m not sure will suit me but I love the colour and the name (Riot House is referenced in my favourite film Almost Famous as the go to LA hangout for musicians such as Led Zeppelin) and Dodgy Girl a “so Kelly O colour it hurts” lavendar shade which I’ve heard will suit any skin tone.

I’m going to ignore the “advice slip” the cashpoint gives me when I make a withdrawal (“STOP SPENDING MONEY CHARL!”) and pick myself up one of the Kelly Lipsticks, if not two.  All in the name of “blog research”.
