BEAUTY || Beauty Buying

A couple of weeks ago I began the mammoth task of sorting through my makeup collection in the hopes of doing a “my makeup collection” type of post, because I hear that its like p0rn to beauty bloggers. I managed to get to the point where I separated everything into different shoe boxes: lip products, eyeshadows, blushers, bronzers, bases… in doing this I realised that I may actually own ALL of the makeup and with that in mind, I’ve not been buying makeup.

This hasn’t been any kind of a spending ban, mainly because if I banned myself from buying something I’d ultimately crack and spend all of my money in Boots/Superdrug. I have zero willpower.  I basically just haven’t seen the point in buying beauty products when there’s nothing I particularly needed to buy.

However, this ethos all goes to pot when you go shopping with beauty bloggers and you end up buying a few items.  That you didn’t need.  Or want.

NYC – Blue Rose – I picked this (and the next item) up at the recommendation of Terri – Queen of all things budget and dupey. On our recent trup to Birmingham, Terri was wearing a Lush Emotional Brilliance lipstick in Passionate and her lips looked wonderous. Apparently this is a pretty good dupe for it and no doubt I’ll share some swatches and the like soon.

Look Beauty – Mattify Me Powder – Terri has rammed this down my throat more than a feeder with chocolate cake. She knows the turmoil of an oily T-Zone and I’m hoping this will replace my much loved MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural and leave me more $$$ to buy pretty lipsticks.

Real Techniques – Expert Face Brush – because you can never have enough makeup brushes and the RT range are staples in my brush collection. I loved the buffing brush and everyone from the blogosphere and their cat said that this was better, so I of course had to have it.

Maybelline – Whitestay UV Foundation – I picked this up in Poundland, the MECCA of bargain makeup (don’t get me started on the out of date debate. I came, I see, I buy) Full review of this to come soon – hint – I LIKE IT AND ITS PALE.

MUA Blush – Marshmallow – Come the autumn I usually like to wear much more autumnal colour blushes (this Avon one was my favourite last year) so this was a bit of a flooky “holding on to the coat tails of summer” purchase. Its super bright and as with all MUA products it has really impressive pigmentation.

Have you picked up any new beauty products (that you don’t need) recently?

  • I iz da queen of de boodget beeyooties. The powder is the best with a flat headed brush thaaaang btw.

  • You wont be disappointed with the RT face brush ;)

    I haven’t been able to buy any beauty products of any kind recently…even those that I really lust after or those that I don’t need. It’s sad. I’m hoping that I will be able to get some soon.

  • The Whitestay foundation is just amazing. I’m pale, most days I have a look of the dead about me, so finding a foundation that doesn’t make me look like an oompa loompa is especially challenging.
    I picked this up in the 99p Store, loved it so much I went back to stock up and it had all gone :(

    Ironically, it’s main target audience is as a whitening foundation for dark skin. Apparently Beyonce has spoken of her love for it.
